Range of Pay: Group 7 - $28.88 to $33.80 per hour (subject to review*)

Main Function: Under the general supervision of the Deputy Chief of Paramedic Services and the day-to-day direction of the Scheduling Co-ordinator-TMSP (Transportation of Medically Stabel Patients), this position is responsible to provide non-urgent patient transportation services and support to non-ambulatory patients during scheduled inter-facility transfers.
Duties:
1. Establish and maintain effective communication, coordination, and working relations with all stakeholders.
2. Protect and maintain the safety and comfort of patients in care.
3. Complete all required patient and administrative documentation in a timely manner and ensure safe keeping of patient records.
4. Maintain dignity and patient confidentiality during every encounter.
5. Complete checklists, encompassing vehicle readiness, vehicle and equipment sanitation, equipment deficiencies, to ensure quality assurance.
6. Practice proper hand hygiene and utilize personal protective equipment as required during all patient encounters in compliance with all workplace safety and infection control standards.
7. Clean and sanitize the vehicle and patient equipment following each patient contact as per policies and procedures.
8. Represent City of Greater Sudbury (CGS) Paramedic Services in a professional and courteous manner and in accordance with policies and procedures.
9. Take direction and liaise with the service supervisors/managers and Scheduling Co-ordinator-TMSP to optimize patient transfers and to report any alterations that may impact service delivery.
10. Complete incident reports and/or vehicle collision reports as per policies and procedures.
11. Drive CGS vehicles in a safe and secure manner in all weather conditions, in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and the department’s policies and procedures.
12. Maintain vehicle inventory and supplies to ensure that material resources are in place as per policies and procedures.
13. Ensure vehicles, equipment, and supplies are maintained in a safe and secure manner at all times.
14. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS’s Safety Manual and the applicable provincial legislation listed therein.
15. Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications
Education and Training:
- Successful completion of secondary school (grade XII) education.
- Current three (3) year certification in Standard First Aid, CPR Level C, and AED.
Experience:
- Over six (6) months up to and including twelve (12) months of experience working in private patient transfer services or health care related field.
- Previous experience in delivering high quality customer service and managing patient/customer interactions.

ther Requirements:
- Knowledge of technological systems including computers, tablets, fax machines, internet, and email.
- Ability to work with computer software and administrative systems in a Windows environment (e.g., file maintenance, word processing, spreadsheet applications, information input and retrieval, etc.).
- Physically able to perform two-person lifts and transfers in a safe, smooth, controlled manner utilizing appropriate patient lifting equipment and techniques.
- Ability to work effectively with external stakeholders, professional, and managerial staff.
- Must be well organized and use time effectively and be able to perform within tight deadlines set by outside sources.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
- French verbal and written skills an asset.
- Provide, at own cost, a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Provide, at own cost, a two-step Mantoux test (TB).
- Satisfactory health, attendance, and former employment history.
- May require the use of a personal or CGS vehicle on CGS business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid class F or G driver’s licence, have an acceptable driving record, and personal insurance coverage.
