The Blossom Group (Cherry Blossom Farm, Apple Blossom Village and Blooming Acres) is seeking a highly skilled Prep Cook, to be an integral part of a busy, dynamic, and growing program. We provide a home for people with complex special needs. Through our therapeutic live-in programs, we support children, youth, and adults through a range of cognitive, social and emotional issues, including Autism Spectrum Disorders, neurobiological and developmental disabilities, and those with coexisting mental health and behavioural issues.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Food Preparation
- Wash, peel, cut, and prepare vegetables, fruits, meats, and other ingredients as directed
Food Ordering & Inventory Support
- Assist with placing food and supply orders under the direction of the Cook or Executive Chef.
- Receive, verify, and store food deliveries, ensuring accuracy and food safety compliance
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages, spoilage, or quality concerns
- Rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices
Pickup & Delivery Coordination
- Coordinate food pickups from vendors or suppliers when required
- Assist with preparing items for internal or external delivery
- Ensure food is packaged, labelled, and transported safely
- Communicate delivery or pickup issues promptly to kitchen leadership
Dishwashing & Sanitation
- Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment promptly and safely
- Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing stations and equipment
- Clean and sanitize workstations, storage areas, and kitchen surfaces
- Follow all public health, sanitation, and workplace safety guidelines
General Kitchen Support
- Assist with opening and closing kitchen procedures
- Dispose of waste and recycling according to guidelines
- Support the kitchen team during peak service times
- Prepare basic menu components such as sauces, dressings, soups, and garnishes
- Portion and label prepared food items according to kitchen standards
- Assist with meal assembly as required
- Complies with all corporate policies and procedures.
- Completes all required mandatory training/education.
- Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System, Food Premises regulations and RHRA dietary standards. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Culinary diploma or certificate granted by a college established under the Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology Act, 2002 or the equivalent.
- Minimum 1 years’ experience.
- Safe Food Handler’s certificate.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in the English language.
- Must be familiar with computerized on-line ordering systems and dietary software.
- Locations: 3100 Triple Bay Road, Port McNicoll, 204 - 15 Line N, Oro Medonte.
Driver’s License- level G
First Aid Level C
