Food Stash Foundation is a registered Canadian charity founded in 2016 that prevents good food from going to waste and provides dignified food access. Whether it is through our Rescued Food Box program, our Rescued Food Market, or through our partnerships with over 50 other local nonprofit organizations, we are on a mission to reduce hunger, reduce our environmental footprint, and bring awareness to how our food choices impact our environment and our health.
POSITION OVERVIEW
We’re hiring a Part-time Rescued Food Market Coordinator who:

The is open to all and is a way for Food Stash to distribute its surplus food directly to the public in a dignified way. We are hiring for on-site Rescued Food Market Coordinator who will be present at and support Market operations on a weekly basis. The Market runs every Thursday, see full schedule details below. This position will be supervised by the Rescued Food Market Supervisor, and report to the Community Programs Manager.

Required Experience & Skills
- Enjoys interpersonal connections and interacting with other people
- Confident communicating verbally to colleagues, volunteers, and Market members
- Ability to be collaborate with others and also work independently
- Self-motivated; likes to take initiative and share new ideas
- Organized, responsible, and punctual
- Ability to comfortably and repeatedly lift boxes of up to 50lbs
- Proficient with regular use of online calendars, spreadsheets, email, and communication tools like Slack and Asana
Desired Additional Experience & Skills
- 3+ years’ professional and/or lived experience in a similar capacity
- Experience working with vulnerable populations
- Non-profit and/or charity sector experience
- Demonstrated work experience in a customer service role
- Experience and confidence with de-escalating conflict
- A broad knowledge of the challenges of our food system

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the guidance of the Rescued Food Market Supervisor, the Rescued Food Market Coordinator performs all activities related to helping run the weekly Rescued Food Market, and is specifically responsible for the following duties:
Primary Duties
- Participates in smooth Market operations every Thursday
- Works collaboratively with the Rescued Food Market Team and several volunteers
- Supports the training and guidance of volunteers in their assigned roles
- Takes initiative to identify and complete Market tasks as needed to improve Member experience and Market operations
- Supports Market Member registration and payment processes
- Supports the creation of a safe, accessible, inclusive, and trauma-informed environment and physical space where all Market Members are welcome
- Builds relationships and rapport with Market Members to create a sense of community and ensure dignified access to food
- Attends monthly Market Team meetings and contribute to sharing ideas and collaborating for the Market’s continued success
JOB DETAILS
- Type: Permanent, Part-time
- Schedule: Thursdays from 1:00 pm - 7:30 pm; monthly team meetings from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
- Location & Work Environment: Food Stash warehouse (290 E 1st Avenue, Vancouver). Our warehouse can be busy and noisy at times. Our office space is open concept and can include distractions.

COMPENSATION
- Food Stash is a Living Wage Employer as defined by Living Wage for Families BC. All wages are at or above the stated Living Wage for Metro Vancouver as defined . The hourly wage for this role is $27.85 per hour (paid semi-monthly)
- Vacation entitlement is equivalent to 2 weeks per year: 4% will be accrued on each pay cheque
