THE POSITION:
OPTIONS is seeking a Community Resource Workers (CRW’s) to provide direct support to an OPTIONS client. This client has non-aggressive behaivours and needs a support worker who is comfortable supporting them with a structured routine within a supportive roommate model. The CRW will work with a Supportive Roommate to provide this support and assist them to pursue and fulfill their goals and aspirations.
SHIFT:
· Monday & Wednesday 4pm to 9pm
· Sunday 12pm-9pm
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Support a structured schedule for the client.
· Recognize and respond to the emotional and physical needs of the client.
· Assist in identification and development of strategies to meet the client’s needs (emotional, health, mental health etc.).
· Ensure proper administration of medication and accurate documentation.
· Have a concrete knowledge of individual support/emergency plans of the client you are supporting.
· Create and nurture ownership of warm and safe home.
· Support individual’s choice, rights and responsibilities.
· Ensure individuals are treated with dignity and respect.
· Promote and facilitate empowerment (i.e. decision-making, informed choices).
· Assist and support individuals to advocate on their own behalf and advocate on behalf of the client when required.
· Provide updates to the Supportive Roommate regarding client changes and/or requirements.
· Record and complete documentation related to incident reports, implementation of Support Plans, data collection, medication administration, etc.
· Demonstrate positive work habits (i.e. punctuality, positive attitude, proper attire, adequate preparation for shift, appropriate use of technology (i.e. personal devices, etc.).
· Maintain professional attitudes, ethics and practices.
· Maintain confidentiality related to clients, staff and OPTIONS’ daily operations.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· A degree or diploma in Disability Studies, Rehabilitation or Social Sciences.
· 3 years’ related experience (a combination of education and experience will be considered).
· Experience working with individuals with a developmental disability.
· Good oral and written communication.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
· Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C; Medication Administration Course.
· Positive Behavior Support Course; Abuse Protocol Course; CPI Training.
· Police Security Check and Intervention Record Check.
