Summary:
HV Logic Ltd. is an Alberta-based High Voltage and Power Systems Engineering company that specializes in digital systems implementation in the power industry. Professional services include project consulting and management, substation electrical, protection settings, custom automation solutions, SCADA development, network design, cyber security assessment and field integration and commissioning. HV Logic Ltd. has experience delivering results for a wide range of clients in the electric utilities, oil and gas, and renewables sectors in North America.
To support the growth of the company, HV Logic Ltd. currently has an opening for a Junior/Intermediate SCADA Engineer position to support the continued growth of the company and serving its clients in the highly demanded power industry. The successful candidate will be joining a small company with a team having 30+ years of industry experience.
Responsibilities:
- Develop SCADA system designs – communication architectures, input/output schematics, point assignments
- Review electrical drawings to interpret for signal lists and develop SCADA graphics
- Develop custom graphical interface with SCADA applications
- Configure RTUs and various automation controllers
- Integrate SCADA systems to substation devices – relays, DFR, meters, etc
- Setup substation IEDs for SCADA
- Integrate SCADA systems to various devices utilizing various SCADA protocols
- Create protocol databases using industrial protocols (ie SEL, Modbus, DNP, OPC)
- Point to point testing and commissioning of SCADA systems
- Develop SAT and FAT test plans
- Become knowledgeable with various client and industry standards.
- Must be willing to travel to site for the integration and commissioning of SCADA systems as this is crucial to the learning process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- Minimum 1-4 years of experience in Utility or Power Systems SCADA
- Strong understanding of computer networking and firewall/routing requirements
- Experienced with TCP/IP, Modbus, DNP, OPC, SQL
- Familiar with authentication servers, virtual machines and various operating system configurations
- Ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of SCADA systems integration
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
- Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Advanced problem-solving skills.
- Experienced with field level system integration, troubleshooting and commissioning
Experience with any of the following would be considered an asset:
- Familiar with Inductive Automation Ignition platform.
- Protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850, OPC
- High voltage experience for electric utilities, renewables and oil and gas.
- Ethernet and IP networks, and serial communication.
- Microsoft Excel including custom macros.
- Power systems knowledge.
- Vendor knowledge for any of GE Energy/Harris, Cooper Power Systems, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, SUBNET Solutions, ABB, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Belden, and Trihedral (VTScada).
- Protocol analyzers such as ASE2000 test set.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
