Pay Rate: Up to $54.13-$62.38/hour, depending on experience

Raise is currently hiring a Senior Buyer on behalf of our client. They're expanding their Supply Chain team to support major capital projects and strategic procurement initiatives, making this an exciting opportunity for an experienced procurement professional with strong SAP purchasing expertise. Our client, is one of North America's leading energy infrastructure companies with operations in natural gas, oil and power industries throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Senior Buyer is responsible for leading procurement activities for capital projects and strategic material categories, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. Working closely with Engineering, Project Management, Legal, Risk, and key business stakeholders, this role will manage the full procurement lifecycle—from sourcing strategy and competitive bidding through supplier negotiations, purchase order management, and supplier performance.
The ideal candidate will bring strong commercial acumen, extensive SAP purchasing experience, and a proven ability to manage complex procurement activities while driving continuous improvement and cost optimization.
Responsibilities
Procurement & Strategic Sourcing

Lead procurement activities for assigned capital projects and material categories with varying levels of complexity.

Develop, issue, and manage Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Quotation (RFQs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and other sourcing events.

Conduct commercial evaluations and bid analyses while coordinating technical evaluations with project stakeholders.

Lead supplier negotiations to achieve optimal commercial outcomes and contract terms.

Serve as the single point of contact (SPOC) for purchase orders within assigned procurement categories.

Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, including Engineering, Project Management, Legal, Risk, and Supplier Qualification teams.
Supplier & Contract Management

Manage supplier relationships throughout the procurement lifecycle.

Ensure compliance with purchase order terms, contractual obligations, and procurement policies.

Maintain accurate procurement records and SAP master data.

Review bills of materials, technical specifications, and procurement documentation.

Monitor supplier performance and identify opportunities for supplier improvement.
Business Improvement & Analytics

Identify cost savings opportunities, procurement efficiencies, and process improvements.

Analyze supplier performance, market trends, and cost drivers to develop strategic sourcing recommendations.

Present procurement insights and recommendations to business leaders and project stakeholders.

Identify future supply chain opportunities through business analysis and market intelligence.
Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of procurement or supply chain experience, preferably supporting capital projects or industrial operations.

Strong experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, commercial negotiations, and supplier management.

Hands-on SAP purchasing experience is required, specifically within a Buyer or Procurement role.

Experience managing purchase orders, supplier negotiations, and competitive sourcing processes.

Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
Preferred Skills

Experience procuring industrial materials such as pipe, valves, fittings, or mechanical equipment.

Experience supporting engineering, energy, utility, or infrastructure projects.

Knowledge of supply chain best practices and procurement governance.

Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.

Experience identifying procurement cost savings and continuous improvement opportunities.
