Role Description
This is a full-time, in-office role for an Intermediate Architectural Technologist, located in the London area. The role involves preparing architectural drawings, construction documents and specifications, and technical detailing. The successful candidate will work closely with the Partner in Charge of BIM and CAD software, senior staff, project architects, project managers, consultants, and contractors to develop coordinated technical solutions and deliver high-quality construction documents. This position requires strong BIM proficiency, sound technical knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative project team.
Qualifications
· Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology or a related field
· 6–10 years of experience in an architectural, design, or technical drawing environment
· Advanced proficiency in BIM, AutoCAD, Sketchup and other relevant architectural software
· Strong ability to prepare accurate architectural, construction, and working drawings, including construction documentation and detailing
· Solid understanding of local building systems, construction methods, and construction administration processes
· Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code, zoning by-laws, and applicable construction standards
· Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to producing high-quality work
· Strong organizational, coordination, and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple projects and priorities
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
· Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite
· Valid driver’s license and ability to attend site visits and meetings as required
· Ability to obtain security clearances for institutional projects; Police Check, OPP (Level 2) Clearance, and Ontario Public Service (OPS) Clearance
· Requirement: Valid Canadian work authorization (Canadian Citizens, permanent residents, and valid work permits only)
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare and coordinate BIM-based design development, construction, and technical documentation packages.
· Collaborate with project architects, project managers, consultants, and technical staff throughout all project phases.
· Produce accurate working drawings, details, schedules, specifications, and construction documents.
· Coordinate with civil, landscape, structural, mechanical, electrical, and other consultants to ensure integrated project delivery.
· Review and respond to drawing markups, consultant feedback, RFIs, shop drawings, and contractor submissions.
· Apply building code, zoning, building science, and construction knowledge to support compliant and buildable design solutions.
· Conduct site investigations, field reviews, and existing-condition assessments as required.
· Support construction administration activities, including site meetings, reports, site instructions, change documentation, and payment certificates.
· Assist with project coordination, technical correspondence, cost estimates, specifications, bid documentation, and other project deliverables.
· Assist with the project bidding process
· Assist with project closeout documents
