The Opportunity
We're seeking reliable, hardworking individuals to join our landscaping crew. This position starts as casual employment with flexible hours, transitioning to full-time in March 2026. You'll work alongside experienced professionals (24+ years, 16 years, and 12 years of experience) who are committed to mentorship and skill development.
What You'll Do
- Perform pruning, trimming, and hedge maintenance on residential and commercial properties
- Conduct yard clean-ups (spring, fall, and seasonal)
- Assist with transplanting and plant/hedge replacement
- Material removal and mulching
- Support hardscaping projects including patios, retaining walls, and garden bed installation
- Maintain gardens and lawns as part of our maintenance packages
- Operate landscaping equipment safely and efficiently (training provided)
- Provide excellent customer service and represent Jola Landscaping professionally on job sites
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and to high standards
Who You Are
Required:
- Physically fit and able to perform manual labor in various weather conditions
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Positive attitude and team player mentality
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed
- Commitment to safety protocols and procedures
- Available for casual shifts now with intention to transition to full-time in March 2026
Preferred:
- Previous landscaping or outdoor maintenance experience
- Knowledge of plants, shrubs, and trees native to Vancouver Island
- Experience with landscaping equipment and tools
- Basic carpentry or handyman skills
- Interest in sustainable and natural landscaping practices

Work Schedule
Casual Phase (October 2026 - February 2026): Flexible scheduling based on availability and project needs
Full-Time Phase (March 2026 onwards): Monday - Friday with morning video huddle at 7:40 AM, work day starts 8:00-8:30 AM and ends at 6:00 PM, with occasional Saturdays
