Our Story: Bar Down Bakery is a community-forward charitable bakery. Specializing in unique coffee beverages, bakery classics and irresistible fusions of your favourite baked goods, Bar Down Bakery offers a taste experience like no other. After launching in 2023 and becoming famous for their 'brookies' (which are the perfect fusion between a cookie and a brownie) Bar Down Bakery expanded upon their offerings to include freshly baked breads, beautifully crafted viennoiserie and unique fusions, like their 'cro-nuts.' They proudly donate a portion of proceeds to KidSport, as well as a variety of other local charities, and are on a mission to serve irresistible baked goods, that do good for their community.

Compensation:
$18- $20/hr (+ tips) with opportunity to increase with proven capability
Schedule:
- Shift times may range between the hours of 5am - 2pm
- A successful candidate should be prepared to work weekdays and weekends.
A Day in the Life of a Morning Baker + Barista:
5am: Arrive at the bakery and assist with starting production for the day.
7:30am: After working with the morning pastry team to bake for the day, assist in loading the display case and preparing the front room for service
8am: Open the bakery for the day and transition from working on the production team to the front of house team
Rest of your shift: Offer exception customer service and carefully craft coffee/matcha beverages to meet our high quality expectations.
*This role is ideal for someone who is looking for some variety in their day, as they will work on both the production and service teams each day*
Responsibilities and General Job Description:
- Can work both independently and with a team
- Assist with the morning baking/production
- Take orders on the POS machine
- Oversee the careful creation of our specialty coffees, whipped lattes and non-caffeinated beverages
- Engage with customers to offer above and beyond service and establish genuine connections with our community, as this is what sets us apart!
- Ensure that the espresso bar is kept clean and well-stocked with all materials and packaging

Requirements:
- Must be available to work weekends.
- Must have a positive attitude, self-motivated and offers excellent customer service
- Must be reliable and consistent
- Must have previous experience with the crafting of espresso beverages
- Must be able to work quickly, efficiently and accurately
- Must have reliable transportation to get to work
‘Bonus Marks’:
- Have your Food Safe Level 1 (or be willing to obtain it)
