The Township of Black River-Matheson is seeking a motivated and progressive individual to fill the permanent full-time position of Director of Public Works. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Director of Public Works is responsible for the leadership and management of the Township's public works operations, infrastructure services, and capital projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the overall management and operation of the Township's roads, fleet, waste management services, and municipal infrastructure.
- Oversees contracted water and wastewater operations through the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA).
- Supervises departmental staff, contractors, and municipal assets.
- Leads the planning and delivery of capital projects and asset management initiatives.
- Develops and administers departmental operating and capital budgets.
- Ensures compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, policies, and health and safety requirements.
- Prepares reports, recommendations, and presentations for Council and senior administration.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in engineering, public works, infrastructure management, or a related field, or equivalent training and experience
- Relevant professional designations such as C.E.T., C.Tech., CRS, or related certifications are considered assets
- Municipal public works, infrastructure, or related experience are considered assets
- Knowledge of municipal roads, fleet, solid waste, capital projects, and asset management
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's Licence.
The Township offers OMERS participation, comprehensive benefits, and a competitive compensation package. This is a permanent full-time position (35 hours/week) with occasional evening and after-hours requirements.
Salary Range: $95,942.00 to $110,000.00
