-
Empathy: We relentlessly care about the growth of others and won’t let anyone go unsupported
-
Learning: We choose to grow through uncertainty, even when the status quo feels easier
-
Impact: We go beyond what seems doable and prove that growth is possible.
Our Commitments
We are committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and connectedness, where everyone is welcomed. We believe in creating a workplace that celebrates diversity of our teams, our program participants and reflects the communities we serve.
We are committed to active reconciliation in alignment with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission 94 calls to action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Reconciliation is a highly valued and integrated part of our culture and work. Trellis’ reconciliation journey is intentional with meaningful engagement from team members both collectively and as individuals.
The Role: Tenancy Coordinator (Full Time, 37.5 Hours per week)
The Tenancy Coordinator is the operational steward of Trellis’s apartment buildings – the primary point of contact for tenants from move-in to move-out, carrying landlord responsibility with both professionalism and genuine care.
You won’t be tied to one building. Tenancy Coordinators are a cross-building team, trained to work across all Trellis housing sites, and operating as one apartment team. This is property management with roots – where maintaining a building is inseparable from helping someone flourish.
This position is a 37.5-hour work week, Monday to Friday, 5 PM – 1 AM.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
-
Manage tenancies end-to-end: viewings, leases, renewals, and move-in/ move-out inspections under Alberta’s RTA.
-
Uphold and clearly communicate tenant rights, ensuring fair process, proper notice, and respectful treatment.
-
Build trusting, respectful relationships with tenants – meeting people where they are so they feel supported, stay housed, and have the stability to grow.
-
Collaborate with Case Managers, Housing Liaisons, and other program teams – sharing information within clear role boundaries so tenants experience seamless, wraparound support.
-
Coordinate property maintenance – triaging requests and following work through to completion with Facilities and partners.
-
Oversee general property upkeep and cleaning of common areas, and keep on-site staff spaces clean, organized, and safe.
-
Coordinate unit cleaning and turnover after move-out so units are Rent Ready before relisting.
-
Champion safety through routine walk-throughs, prompt hazard response, and emergency coordination.
-
Track rent, issue notices, and conduct monthly Health & Safety Checks.
-
Work across all buildings as one team – sharing receiving apartment calls, cross-training, and stepping in wherever needed.
-
Other duties as they arise – we're always growing.
Knowledge, Experience and Core Competencies
-
Education: A degree or diploma in Human Services. Completion of a property management certificate or relevant coursework (not required but valued). Equivalencies based on experience will be considered.
-
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in housing, residential property operations, social services, or a related field. Experience working with people and families experiencing housing instability or complex needs is a strong asset.
-
Knowledge of Alberta's Residential Tenancies Act (RTA).
-
Strong communication skills – clear, direct, and compassionate in all interactions, written and verbal.
-
Organized and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple buildings, files, and timelines simultaneously.
-
Comfortable with digital tools including Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, OneNote, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe Sign.
-
Cultural humility and a genuine openness to learning – including a commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and to growing in this area over time.
-
A trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approach to working with tenants – understanding the difference between compliance and connection and knowing when both matters.
-
Self-directed and able to work independently across multiple sites, while being a genuine team player.
-
Commitment to Trellis's values of Courage, Empathy, Learning, and Impact in every aspect of the role.
-
Valid driver's licence, current Driver's Abstract, and a reliable personal vehicle
