Job Summary: Haven Group Construction Inc. is hiring an experienced Concrete Forming Foreman to lead a forming crew on commercial projects throughout Halton Region. Reporting to the Owner/Operator, the Foreman directs day-to-day formwork operations while staying hands-on in the field, ensuring crews hit production targets safely, accurately, and on schedule.
The role involves coordinating labour, materials, and equipment for foundations, bridges, culverts, and other structural concrete elements, reading and applying drawings and specifications, and keeping site documentation current and accurate.
Job Location: Halton Region, ON
Job Type: Full-time, temporary (5 months) with possibility of extension
Shift Structure: Monday to Friday; 7:00 am to 5 pm (occasional overtime/Saturdays based on project needs). Overtime will be paid after 44 hours.
Compensation Structure: $35.00+/hour to start
Travel Area Required: Project sites across Halton Region and surrounding GTA West
Responsibilities:
- Lead and work alongside the crew to set forms, assigning tasks and confirming crew understanding of layout, sequencing, and pour schedules
- Supervise field workmanship, safety, and productivity, providing hands-on coaching and direction to labourers
- Enforce jobsite safety policies and legislative requirements, including hazard identification, toolbox talks, PPE compliance, fall protection, and safe equipment operation
- Coordinate with the Site Superintendent, Project Manager, and Owner/Operator on short-term scheduling, identifying upcoming needs for labour, forming materials, rebar coordination, and concrete pour logistics
- Monitor crew and equipment productivity, flag variances, and recommend improvements to reduce waste, downtime, and rework
- Maintain accurate daily site records, including crew hours, material quantities, pour tickets, progress photos, and inspection sign-offs
- Verify formwork layout, alignment, and tolerances against drawings and specifications; address discrepancies before pours proceed
- Oversee related concrete activities including rebar placement coordination, embeds/anchor bolts, concrete placement and finishing coordination, curing, and formwork stripping/cleanup
- Liaise with inspectors, engineers, and trades to keep work compliant and on schedule
Skills/Qualifications:
- 5+ years of concrete forming experience, including field leadership or foreman-level responsibility
- Proven ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications
- Strong knowledge of formwork systems (shoring, slab formwork, wall forms, column form) and concrete placement practices
- Experience supervising crews on commercial concrete projects
- Solid understanding of Ontario construction safety requirements (working at heights, rigging/lifting, concrete operations)
- Comfortable maintaining daily field documentation, including reports, time tracking, and photos
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to keep a crew productive under tight timelines
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation to job sites across Halton Region
