Position: Temp Full-Time Family Outreach Counsellor
Location: Williams Lake
Hours: 35-40 hours per week
Wage: $42.47/hour, as per the collective agreement
Summary:
Axis Family Resources Ltd. is hiring a temp full-time family outreach counselor as a part of the Intensive Family Intervention Program, working with families and individuals within families. Service will prioritize providing family of origin/systems work with adults around trauma resolution and disrupted attachment with children and may include group work. Families involved will stabilize and gain practical and applicable skills for dealing with family crises and abusive or neglectful situations. Counselors will develop, implement, and evaluate family-based intervention plans and participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of person-served service plans in conjunction with the integrated case management team. Building and maintaining healthy relationships with our Persons Served through a trauma-informed practice is the core of our work. Qualifications & Requirements:
- A bachelor's-level degree in social work, child & youth care, or other related degrees in the human services discipline.
- The equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, preferably in the specific field of outreach, crisis intervention, or family counseling.
- Experience providing support and education around healthy parenting skills/strategies is required.
- Education, training, or experience must reflect an ability to utilize a wide range of strategies to deal with issues such as child abuse/neglect, family violence, family-of-origin issues, anger management, communication problems, parenting problems, financial management challenges, mental or developmental challenges, intimacy, self-care, etc. (Please outline type of experience in the ‘message to the employer’ section during the application process).
- Knowledge of BC's child protection legislation and Ministry of Children and Families services is an asset.
- Knowledge of and the ability to work with complex trauma, autism, FASD, ODD, or other neurobiological conditions is beneficial.
- Reliable transportation and a valid BC driver’s license.
- Clear Criminal Record Check (agency conducted, expenses covered).
- Effective written and verbal communication.
