*** COMPENSATION:
Base compensation starts at CA$60,000 to CA$90,000 annually based on experience, lender relationships, and proven production ability.
In addition, substantial monthly performance bonuses are paid based on funded volume, approval ratios, commitment generation, lender efficiency, and overall team production. Total annual compensation is expected to range between CA$120,000 to CA$250,000+ for high performers.
This is a contracted remote position. You are responsible for your own tax deductions.
Lionsgate Financial Group is seeking a high level mortgage deal structuring and lender placement specialist to lead our lender commitment division.
We currently operate across 4 provinces and maintain relationships with approximately 250 lenders across institutional, alternative, MIC, and private lending channels.
*** SUMMARY:
This is not a traditional underwriting role.
As the Senior Mortgage Deal Structuring Manager, your responsibility is to oversee and support a team of 5 high volume underwriters whose files require strategic lender placement, approvals, and commitments.
Your primary responsibility is to secure lender approvals and commitments for your underwriting team by strategically structuring deals, identifying lender appetite, negotiating terms, and solving difficult files.
You will act as the final strategic layer between underwriting and lender approval.
Although you will not be responsible for primary file underwriting, you are expected to review underwriting quality, identify weaknesses, correct structural issues, and ensure files are being packaged and positioned correctly before lender submission.
You must possess advanced knowledge of lender guidelines, policy exceptions, risk layering, mortgage structuring strategies, and lender negotiation techniques.
This is a high pressure, high level efficiency role requiring exceptional memory retention, strategic thinking, lender relationship management, and problem solving ability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and support a team of 5 high volume mortgage underwriters
- Review submitted files for structure quality, packaging accuracy, and lender fit
- Strategically structure and reposition difficult mortgage files for approval success
- Secure commitments and approvals from lenders on behalf of underwriting staff
- Match files to appropriate lenders based on appetite, policy, exceptions, and deal strength
- Negotiate rates, terms, conditions, structures, and pricing directly with lenders
- Maintain and strengthen lender relationships across institutional, alternative, MIC, and private lending channels
- Possess detailed understanding of lender guideline changes and lending appetite
- Correct underwriting deficiencies and provide strategic direction to underwriting staff
- Identify alternative lender solutions when files encounter obstacles or declines
- Escalate and negotiate exception requests with lender business development managers and credit teams
- Review lender commitments and approval structures prior to issuance
- Maintain high efficiency and fast turnaround times in a high volume environment
- Ensure underwriting staff maintain strong quality control and packaging standards
- Assist management with lender relations and expansion strategies
*** GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 7+ years mortgage underwriting, deal placement, or lender relations experience
- Strong experience in subprime, alternative, MIC, and private lending
- Existing lender relationships are considered a major asset
- Advanced understanding of lender guidelines and mortgage structuring strategies
- Exceptional ability to retain and recall large volumes of lender policy information
- High level negotiation and relationship management skills
- Strong leadership and staff management ability
- Ability to identify solutions quickly within complex lending scenarios
- Strong understanding of credit analysis, risk management, and file positioning
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced remote environment
- High level organization and time management skills
- Ability to manage pressure, tight deadlines, and high volume operations
- Strong communication and professional decision making ability
