Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Junior Engineer to join our water and wastewater team. About the Opportunity
Responsibilities include:
· Assist in the planning, design, and analysis of water and wastewater treatment systems
· Support senior engineers in preparing technical reports, drawings, and specifications
· Conduct hydraulic and process modeling for treatment and distribution systems
· Analyze water quality data and contribute to process optimization
· Support engineering and project management teams on water infrastructure projects across Canada.
· Participate in field work at treatment facilities, including pilot programs, commissioning, and construction support activities.
· Provide technical support related to the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater systems.
· Assist with development of capital and operating cost estimates.
· Support equipment selection related to mechanical, electrical, and process systems.
· Contribute technical input to engineering studies, reports, and regulatory documentation.
· Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and environmental regulations
· Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders including utilities, engineering consultants, and regulatory bodies.
· Domestic travel to project sites may be required.
· Ensure safe, proper, and efficient operation of facility equipment during field assignments.
· Perform other duties appropriate to the role as assigned.
Education and Experience
· Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in water or wastewater treatment, utilities, or public infrastructure projects.
· Registration with APEGA (or eligibility) is preferred.
· 1–5 years of relevant experience in water or wastewater treatment, infrastructure, or related projects.
· Experience supporting public-sector, utility, or consulting engineering projects is considered a strong asset.
· Exposure to treatment processes, hydraulic systems, or water distribution and collection systems is highly desirable.
· Internship, co-op, or field experience related to water or wastewater systems is considered an asset.
Skills and Competencies
· Foundational understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes.
· Familiarity with infrastructure design standards and regulatory requirements is considered an asset.
· Ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
· Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
· Familiarity with Microsoft Office and engineering software such as hydraulic or process modelling tools is considered an asset.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
· Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
· Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
· Commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety.
