We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Farmer to join our pork production team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for farming and a strong commitment to maintaining high-quality pig production. This role involves working indoors and requires physical stamina, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to operate farm machinery effectively.
We require that you are already a Canadian citizen, and preferably already living in Ontario, especially around the Norfolk/Oxford county areas.
Responsibilities
- Caring for farrowing sows.
- Processing piglets.
- Moving pigs throughout the barn.
- Monitoring herd health.
- Breeding the sows.
- Pressure wash pens, rooms and maintain a clean barn.
- Keep accurate records of animal data.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient farm operations and productivity.
- Help in the field work if necessary.
Requirements
- Knowledge to care for pigs and troubleshoot where needed.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks regularly throughout the workday.
- Experience operating various types of farm machinery is preferred but not required.
- Physical stamina to work longer hours on occasion
- Attention to detail in monitoring herd health.
- Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to changing agricultural practices.
- A valid driver's license is required for operating vehicles on the farm as well as the ability to get to the farm punctually with your own vehicle.
