Brink Forest Products is seeking a motivated, hands-on Assistant Production Manager to help oversee production operations at our Prince George Fingerjoint facility. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manufacturing leader who enjoys working on the production floor, supporting employees, and helping drive operational success.
Working directly with the General Manager, the Assistant Production Manager will help lead daily production activities while promoting safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement throughout the operation. This is a highly hands-on leadership role, with significant time spent on the production floor supporting employees, solving problems, and ensuring production runs efficiently. The successful candidate will not be afraid to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty when needed.
This position plays an important role in supporting our leadership team and offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to continue growing their management career within a well-established forest products company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in leading day-to-day production operations throughout the mill.
- Help ensure production targets, quality standards, and safety expectations are consistently achieved.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture throughout the operation.
- Work closely with supervisors and management to coordinate staffing, scheduling, and workflow.
- Identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Monitor production performance and assist with maximizing productivity and recovery.
- Support, coach, and mentor supervisors and production employees while fostering accountability and teamwork.
- Maintain clear communication with the General Manager regarding production performance, staffing requirements, and operational needs.
- Assist with planning, process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.
- Lead by example and maintain a visible presence on the production floor.
Qualifications:
- Previous leadership experience as a supervisor, lead hand, assistant manager, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, workflow management, and quality control.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and build positive working relationships.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to work alongside operations personnel when required.
- Experience with production planning and continuous improvement initiatives is considered an asset.
Compensation:
- Annual salary of $95,000 - $110,000, based on experience and qualifications.
