Estimation is an art that drives opportunity and growth at the forefront of the construction process. In this leadership role, you will act as the Senior Estimator and Preconstruction Lead, owning the full bid process end-to-end while ensuring alignment on cost, scope, schedule, and risk.
You are not only responsible for producing estimates; you lead the entire pursuit, from early strategy and positioning through final submission and transition to operations. You serve as the single point of accountability during preconstruction, ensuring every pursuit is structured, competitive, and risk-aware.
This role is central to our growth, combining technical estimating expertise with project leadership, allowing you to shape winning strategies, mentor teams, and elevate how we pursue work.
What you will do
As projects increase in size and complexity, there is a need for one accountable leader to drive the entire preconstruction phase. The Senior Estimator fulfills this role by integrating estimating, strategy, client engagement, and risk management into a single point of leadership.
- Lead the full-cycle bid process end-to-end, from early pursuit strategy to final submission
- Act as the preconstruction lead, owning cost, scope, and pricing strategy
- Develop bid strategy, win themes, and commercial approach
- Oversee and/or complete quantity take-offs, pricing, and trade coverage
- Validate assumptions, close scope gaps, and ensure pricing completeness
- Maintain direct engagement with clients and consultants throughout the pursuit
- Lead internal teams, ensuring clarity, alignment, and accountability
- Drive risk identification and mitigation early in the process
- Ensure a clean and structured handoff to operations
What You Bring
- 7+ years of experience in estimating within the ICI construction industry
- Proven ability to independently lead full-cycle bids from strategy to submission
- Strong commercial acumen with a solid understanding of risk, pricing, and delivery models
- Experience engaging directly with clients throughout the preconstruction phase
- Degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of the Vancouver market and trade landscape
- A detail-oriented approach, ensuring scope completeness and pricing accuracy
- Ability to challenge assumptions, identify gaps, and drive clarity in complex bids
- Confidence in building strong client relationships and trust during pursuits
- A results-driven mindset focused on setting projects up for successful execution
