Part-Time Maintenance Support

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance person to support the ongoing upkeep and technical operations of our escape room facilities. This role will provide primary maintenance support for Time Lapse Escape Rooms, with secondary support for The Real Escape Canada as required. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on technical abilities, attention to detail, and experience working with both carpentry and low-voltage systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general carpentry and repair work, including doors, set pieces, props, and room structures.
- Conduct low-voltage wiring, crimping, cable management, and installation of connectors.
- Complete soldering tasks for electronic components, repairs, and device maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and repair puzzle technology, sensors, buttons, LEDs, microcontrollers, and related systems.
- Maintain and upgrade technical equipment such as PCs, routers, switches, access points, projectors, and display screens.
- Perform basic painting, patching, and finishing work when required.
- Respond to technical or mechanical issues during operating hours as needed.
- Assist with fabrication, installation, and setup of new room elements or equipment.
Qualifications
- Experience with carpentry, framing, repairs, or set construction.
- Proficiency with low-voltage wiring, crimping tools, and related equipment.
- Strong soldering skills (through-hole; surface-mount experience an asset).
- Ability to diagnose and repair electronic and mechanical systems.
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and general workshop equipment.
- Comfort working with PCs, basic networking equipment, and audiovisual components.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work independently.
- Valid driver’s licence
Asset Skills
- Experience working with escape room technology or interactive attractions.
- Familiarity with microcontrollers (Arduino, ESP32, etc.).
- Experience with LED lighting systems (RGB, pixel LEDs, power injection).
- Basic coding, firmware flashing, or diagnostic software experience.
- Painting, finishing, or light set design background.
Schedule & Compensation
- Part-time, flexible scheduling (evening and weekend availability may be required).
- Compensation based on experience.
