Painter / Labourer
Overview
SMAT Painting & Renovations is seeking a motivated Painter / Labourer to join our growing team. This position involves a variety of painting, renovation, and general labour tasks on residential and commercial projects throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas.
The ideal candidate is dependable, hardworking, safety-conscious, and eager to learn. Previous painting or construction experience is required.

Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, patching, caulking, and masking.
- Apply paint, stain, and specialty coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Assist with drywall repairs, minor carpentry, demolition, and restoration work as required.
- Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment to and from job sites.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Safely operate hand tools and power tools.
- Follow company safety procedures and site-specific requirements.
- Work effectively with team members to complete projects on schedule and to a high standard.
- Interact professionally with clients when working in occupied homes or businesses.
Qualifications
- Previous painting, construction, restoration, or renovation experience is an asset.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
- Comfortable working on ladders and various job sites.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good communication and customer service skills.

Position Type
This is an Independent Contractor / Freelance position. Successful candidates will be engaged as subcontractors and are responsible for providing invoices for work completed and managing their own taxes and deductions. This is not a payroll employee position.
Requirements
- Valid Class 5 driver's license required.
- Must have a reliable vehicle and be able to travel independently to various job sites throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas.
- Ability to provide invoices for hours worked.
- Previous painting, renovation, construction, or general labour experience is an asset.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work safely and professionally on residential and commercial job sites.
