Overview
Join our Home Hardware Building Centre as an Inside Sales Associate and play a key role in supporting our contractor, builder, and renovation customers. In this role, you’ll work at the heart of our sales operation—preparing quotes, processing orders, and building strong relationships with both professional and DIY customers.
This position is ideal for someone with knowledge of building materials, strong customer service instincts, and the ability to translate project needs into accurate product solutions. You’ll collaborate closely with the sales floor, lumber yard, purchasing, and delivery teams to ensure a smooth and reliable customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for contractor and walk-in customers, providing knowledgeable and professional service
- Prepare and follow up on quotes, estimates, and material take-offs for building and renovation projects
- Process sales orders accurately, ensuring correct pricing, product selection, and availability
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while identifying opportunities to grow accounts
- Support outside sales, yard, and delivery teams to ensure seamless order fulfillment
- Respond promptly to inbound inquiries (phone, email, in-store) with clear and helpful product information
- Maintain accurate customer records, pricing, and sales documentation using point-of-sale and inventory systems
- Stay current on building materials, product lines, vendor programs, and seasonal promotions
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in inside sales, contractor sales, or building materials (LBM) environments preferred
- Working knowledge of lumber, building materials, hardware, and renovation products
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
- Ability to read plans, understand project requirements, and translate them into product solutions (an asset)
- Comfortable using POS systems, order entry software, and basic CRM or customer tracking tools
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple customer requests in a fast-paced environment
