Key Responsibilities:
- Operation of Falcon F5 Locator
- Layout bore path with the Driller and identify any possible issues
- Communicate precisely with Driller during entire drill shot to ensure work is completed in a safe and efficient manner
- Installation of underground conduit guaranteeing safety to the public and underground facilities are a top priority
- Safely operate a truck and trailer to bring equipment & materials to site
- Team leader, who will participate in all tasks required alongside the crew, setting an example of work ethic and solidarity
- Sets a strong production pace, relative to the infield safety rhythm
- Work to ensure company policies and procedures are being followed
- Performs daily preventative maintenance and post shift repair work when required
- Accurately read utility locates and coordinate accordingly, permits and locates are in hand
- Read and comprehend blueprints and work orders
- Setup work site including pedestrian control and traffic
- Ensure safety documentation and daily equipment inspections are completed
- Willing to work in different environments with moderate to loud noise levels
- Willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ready to work in trenches, manholes and tunnels
- Move/lift material weighing 50+ pounds
- Class 1 License is required
- HDD Drilling experience is an asset
- Duties include but are not limited to the above. Additional tasks may be assigned as required
Skills and Qualifications:
- Mechanically inclined Horizontal Directional Drill locator; preferably experienced with Falcon F5's.
- Experience with Vermeer Drills
- No previous utility strikes
- Shallow utilities experience – power, gas and telecommunications
- Safety conscious
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Adaptable/ problem solver
- Arrives to each shift on time, ready to work with a good attitude, ambition and professionalism.
- Knowledge of ground disturbance procedures
- Current safety tickets are mandatory: CSTS2020
- Ready to take compulsory company safety courses including but not limited to First Aid, Ground Disturbance, WHMIS, H2S ALIVE - before beginning work
- 2+ years of Calgary drilling & locating experience preferred
- Willing to work long hours, 5 to 6 days per week
- Willing to work out of town occasionally
- Valid driver’s license minimum Class 5 preferred, clean abstract and no major convictions.
- Level of experience will be a determining factor in wage.
