Summary
We are currently looking for a part-time English Teacher to support students in Grades 1 to 12 with English Language Arts.
Retired Alberta teachers are warmly welcome to apply. Recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Key Responsibilities
- Support students in Grades 1–12 with English Language Arts
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to student needs
- Teach reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, literary analysis, and oral communication skills
- Use a variety of instructional methods and materials to enhance learning
- Create a positive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Adapt lessons for students with different learning styles and academic levels
- Collaborate with colleagues on learning plans and instructional strategies
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and assessments
- Communicate professionally with parents, students, and staff regarding progress and concerns
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field preferred
- Teaching certification or relevant teaching experience is an asset
- Strong knowledge of English language arts, literature, writing instruction, and reading comprehension
- Strong working knowledge of the Alberta curriculum is a must
- Familiarity with Alberta English Language Arts expectations across elementary, junior high, and high school levels
- Ability to support students preparing for school-based assessments, writing tasks, provincial expectations, and diploma-level English work
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Familiarity with educational technology tools and resources is an asset
