The Glencoe Club is looking for an experienced, creative, supportive and responsible educator to work in our Licensed Preschool and Out of School Care Programs, children aged 3 to 9 years old. The Childcare Educator position is part of the Front-Line Team of the Club and oversees delivery of the Licensed Preschool and Out of School Care Program at The Glencoe Club. The Childcare Educator will provide a safe, caring, stimulating, active and educational experience for children and their parents, utilizing the superior sport venues and facilities within the Club.
Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain an engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment through intentional planning, observation, and documentation, working collaboratively with co-educators, the Lead Educator, and the Director.
- Communicate effectively with members through phone, email, and in-person interactions, while partnering with the Creative Department to coordinate program signage, promotional materials, calendars, and marketing initiatives.
- Apply a strong understanding of child development to support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth using positive, proactive guidance and behaviour management strategies.
- Plan and confidently facilitate a variety of age-appropriate experiences, including cooperative games, creative arts, outdoor play, and hands-on learning opportunities that encourage exploration and engagement.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children by maintaining compliance with Glencoe policies and procedures, Alberta Child Care Licensing Standards, and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
Qualifications:
- Diploma, Degree, or Certificate in Early Childhood Education, with a minimum of Alberta Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Level 1 Certification required. ECE Level 2 or 3 Certification is considered an asset.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a licensed preschool or early learning environment, with demonstrated success in supporting child development, delivering high-quality early learning experiences, and building positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Strong understanding of emergent curriculum and play-based learning, with the ability to plan experiences based on children's interests, strengths, and developmental needs. Experience implementing Alberta's FLIGHT: Alberta's Early Learning and Care Framework is considered an asset.
- Current Child Care First Aid and CPR/AED Certification (or equivalent meeting Alberta licensing requirements).
- Thorough knowledge of Alberta Child Care Licensing Standards, Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation, and best practices in health, safety, and risk management within an early learning environment.
- Demonstrated ability to foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment that supports children's social, emotional, physical, cognitive, language, and creative development.

Additional Details:
This is a part-time, permanent position, reporting to the Childcare Director. The successful candidate may be required to work a variety of shifts including weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays, so a flexible schedule is required.
