Controller
Dynamic Machine Corporation together with PARR Metal Fabricators is seeking a high-caliber, forward-thinking Controller to lead our financial operations and guide our accounting team at our Winnipeg head office. Position Overview
Reporting directly to the President of the company, the Controller is a key member of our management team. In this role, you will do more than just manage numbers; you will lead a dedicated team, optimize day-to-day financial operations, and provide the insights necessary to drive company goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Oversee all operations of the accounting department, aligning financial activities with company goals and collaborating with department managers to drive organizational success.
- Financial Management: Direct daily accounting activities to guarantee accuracy and timeliness, while taking full ownership of month-end, year-end, and corporate taxation compliance.
- Team Development: Cultivate a collaborative, high-performing environment by providing technical guidance, continuous coaching, and mentorship to support individual professional growth.
- Operational Excellence: Establish clear workflows for gathering financial information across internal departments, ensuring compliance with established procedures.
- Talent Management: Manage human resources functions for the accounting team, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and professional development.
- Risk & Compliance: Coordinate annual insurance renewals, manage year-end audit requirements, and handle complex problem-solving scenarios for the department.
- Stakeholder Relations: Maintain professional communication and build trusted relationships with customers, vendors, staff, and executive leadership.
Qualifications and Education
- Professional Designation: Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
- Leadership Experience: Minimum of five years of accounting experience in a supervisory or management capacity, with a strong focus on team development and mentorship.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite and a high level of comfort navigating and optimizing legacy software systems.
- Organizational Expertise: Exceptional data management, prioritization, and organizational skills, with a proven ability to meet strict deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Core Attributes: Demonstrated professional integrity, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to maintain absolute confidentiality.
