Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy commercial machinery and industrial equipment. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency with hand tools and power tools, and the ability to work on diverse equipment such as MEWP lifts, telehandler lifts, heavy duty pick up trucks, etc. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will ensure all machinery operates efficiently and safely to support our operations both in shop, and on project sites.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys a varied role and is not looking to spend all day exclusively performing mechanical repairs. We are looking for an individual who is interested in assisting with equipment and material deliveries in addition to mechanical duties. A Class 1 driver’s licence would be considered a strong asset.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on commercial
- Transport commercial equipment and machinery safely between shop locations and job sites using appropriate trailers and transport vehicles
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and ensure all transportation activities comply with applicable safety regulations and transportation requirements
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
- Conduct welding and fabrication tasks as needed for repairs or modifications
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to disassemble, repair, and reassemble machinery
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation of repairs performed
- Assist in assembly of new equipment or components
- Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients or team members regarding repair status
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment or industrial machinery
- Knowledge of automotive repair techniques applicable to heavy machinery
- Familiarity with schematics for electrical systems and hydraulic diagrams
- Experience in welding, assembly, and maintenance of heavy-duty equipment
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely during repair, testing and on active job sites
- Experience securing and hauling equipment in accordance with transportation and safety regulations
- Valid driver’s license required; Class 1 or commercial driver’s license considered an asset
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with the ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments effectively
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on safety and quality standards
Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
