Human Resources Manager
Position Summary
The Human Resources Manager plays a key role in leading day-to-day HR operations and supporting People & Culture initiatives across the organization. This position provides hands-on HR support while also acting as a trusted advisor to leaders on employee relations, performance management, compliance, and organizational effectiveness.
This role requires strong judgment, professionalism, and the ability to support leaders in a fast-paced, evolving environment while maintaining confidentiality and a people-focused approach. Additionally, this role is expected to influence decision-making, strengthen leadership capability, and enhance overall employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Advisory
- Serve as a trusted advisor for managers and employees on HR-related matters
- Provide guidance on performance management, disciplinary actions, and terminations (with and without cause)
- Lead and support workplace investigations, ensuring fair and compliant outcomes
- Coach leaders on employee engagement, conflict resolution, and best practices
- Support and influence engagement and retention across the organization
HR Operations & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation (e.g., ESA, CLC, WSIB, human rights) interpreting and applying requirements in a practical business context
- Support policy development, implementation, and consistent application
- Maintain accurate employee records and documentation in line with legal requirements
- Partner with payroll on employee changes, ROEs, and benefits administration
- Lead and advise on terminations, layoffs, and leaves, including proper documentation and notice/severance handling
Talent & Workforce Management
- Partner with leaders on recruitment for office and operational roles, with a focus on high-impact hires
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure consistency and strong employee experience
- Contribute to workforce planning, organizational design, and succession planning initiatives
Performance & Development
- Support performance review processes and continuous feedback practices
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify training and development needs and coordinate learning initiatives
- Promote a culture of accountability, growth, and high performance
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Lead or support HR projects (e.g., policy updates, engagement initiatives, system improvements)
- Analyze HR metrics and trends to support decision-making
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and employee experience
BRCGS & Food Safety Support
- Support requirements aligned with BRCGS standards within WGOC’s food-grade operations
- Assist in maintaining employee training records, onboarding compliance, and documentation required for audits
- Partner with Operations and Quality teams to support food safety culture initiatives
- Participate in internal and external audit preparation (e.g., documentation, corrective actions, employee communication)
- Help reinforce accountability and adherence to food safety policies across warehouse and operational teams
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- CHRP or CHRL designation (or in progress) is preferred
- 5–8+ years of progressive HR experience in a generalist capacity, with demonstrated experience advising leaders and handling complex employee relations.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation (federal and provincial)
- Experience supporting both hourly and salaried workforces (asset-based or logistics environment is an asset)
- Exposure to BRCGS or food safety standards is an asset

Pay: $71,000.00-$90,000.00 per year

Experience:
