As a Forest Officer, you will support the delivery of Alberta’s Forestry Operations Programs and report to a Wildfire Technologist. This position plays a critical role in wildfire prevention, preparedness, and response, as well as forest management operations and forest stewardship. All activities must be conducted in compliance with Alberta legislation, policies, procedures, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
This role provides the opportunity to apply knowledge of wildfire behaviour, fuel types, forest ecology, and wildland firefighting techniques to support safe, efficient, and effective wildfire operations. Responsibilities include participation in wildfire detection, enforcement, public education, engineering, pre-suppression, and suppression activities, in alignment with provincial standards and operational plans.
The Forest Officer is also required to actively participate in the monitoring of forest operations related to Forest Management activities across the Wabasca Forest Area. This includes conducting forest operations inspections, scaling, reforestation surveys, and enforcement-related investigations.
Maintaining accurate documentation, reports, and records related to wildfire and forest management activities is an essential component of this role.
