Job Overview
Edmonton Harmony Public Charter School, opening for the 2026-2027 school year, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Arabic Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging Arabic language instruction to students in Kindergarten through Grade 6, fostering a positive learning environment, and supporting students' linguistic and cultural development. Harmony Public Charter School is funded by Alberta Education, provides instruction of the Alberta Education program of studies, and compensates teachers on the provincial grid. The successful candidate must possess or be eligible for Alberta teaching certification. Harmony Public Charter School's charter has been approved with an Africenter mission and vision for Kindergarten through Grade Twelve. The projected enrollment for the first year of operation is 125 to 150 students. A Criminal Record check and Vulnerable Sector Check are required.
Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive Arabic language lesson plans aligned with the charter's goal and vision .
- Deliver engaging classroom instruction that caters to different learning styles infusing Arabic into the Alberta Program of Studies.
- Assess student progress through assignments, tests, and observations, providing constructive feedback.
- Incorporate proofreading, writing skills, and communication techniques to enhance language acquisition.
- Support students with special educational needs through tailored tutoring and classroom accommodations.
- Utilize Powerschool Student Information System
- Collaborate with colleagues to design Africenter activities and school events promoting the approved charter school application by Alberta Education.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
Experience
- Proven classroom experience teaching Arabic at the elementary or secondary level.
- Strong knowledge of Arabic language structure, grammar, and cultural context.
- Experience in tutoring or providing additional support for students with diverse learning needs, including special education.
- Demonstrated skills in proofreading, writing, and effective communication to facilitate language learning.
- Familiarity with educational technology tools and organizational skills necessary for lesson planning and student assessment.

Pay: $50,325.60-$90,000.00 per year
