Safety Manager
Our client is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead and enhance workplace health, safety, and environmental programs within a dynamic industrial manufacturing environment. This leadership role is responsible for fostering a strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and partnering with operational leaders to support safe and efficient operations.
The successful candidate will be a proactive safety professional who can influence positive change, build strong relationships across all levels of the organization, and champion best practices in occupational health and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health and safety programs, policies, and procedures
- Promote a culture of safety excellence through coaching, training, communication, and employee engagement initiatives
- Support incident prevention through risk assessments, hazard identification, workplace inspections, and safety audits
- Lead and participate in incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented and tracked to completion
- Monitor compliance with applicable occupational health and safety legislation, industry standards, and company policies
- Collaborate with operational leaders to establish safety objectives and support site-specific safety initiatives
- Coordinate and facilitate safety training programs, including orientation, regulatory training, and ongoing competency development
- Support contractor safety management processes and ensure adherence to site safety requirements
- Provide guidance and support to joint health and safety committees
- Oversee workers' compensation and claims management activities, including return-to-work coordination and case management
- Evaluate workplace safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements to ensure appropriate use and effectiveness
- Maintain required safety records, documentation, and reporting metrics
- Analyze safety performance data and recommend strategies to improve overall safety outcomes
Requirements:
- Postsecondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Human Resources, or a related discipline
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is considered an asset
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience leading health and safety programs within an industrial, manufacturing, processing, or heavy industry environment
- Demonstrated experience managing workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, safety management systems, and risk assessment methodologies
- Experience conducting audits, investigations, and developing corrective action plans
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills
- Proven ability to influence safe work practices and drive organizational change through collaboration and coaching
Pay: $110,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
