Après is a real‑fruit ice cream shop in the heart of Downtown Penticton. As we head into our first busy ice cream season, we’re looking for a Shift Leader who can help us deliver a consistently great guest experience while keeping service smooth, friendly, and fun.

This role is ideal for someone who loves hospitality, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and enjoys taking ownership of a shift. You communicate easily, stay organized, and know how to keep a small team moving smoothly through busy moments. You’re comfortable delegating, supporting newer staff, and stepping into any role — whether that’s cutting fruit, swirling ice cream, blending drinks, or helping a guest choose their new favourite flavour. You care about maintaining a clean, safe, and joyful shop, and you take pride in creating a workplace where people feel supported and customers leave happier than they arrived.
You bring maturity (19+), steady energy, and a calm, solutions‑focused presence. Shift Leaders help guide the daily rhythm of Après. You oversee opening and closing routines, support the team during service, and uphold our standards for quality, cleanliness, and hospitality. You understand our menu, our values, and our pace — and you help bring that to life on every shift. You’re a key part of building a positive team culture and ensuring the shop runs smoothly

Lead opening routines, including cash counting, POS start, fruit prep, temperature checks, crafting espresso drinks, and setting up stations for smoothie bowls, swirl service, and baked goods.

Oversee closing duties such as cleaning, cash deposit, and securing the shop.

Monitor inventory levels — including fruit, toppings, pints, and dry goods — and communicate needs to management.

Troubleshoot small equipment issues.

Delegate tasks, create daily to‑do lists, and manage breaks so shift flows well.

Support and guide team members, answering questions and helping train new staff.

Maintain a warm, supportive atmosphere while delivering efficient, friendly customer service.

Uphold all Après standards for food safety, cleanliness, and product quality.

Keep the workspace organized and functional.

Share the Après story, menu knowledge, and values with team members.

Jump in wherever needed to keep the shop running smoothly.

Handle minor guest concerns with clarity and kindness

Support weekly prep tasks such as labelling, rotating, and stocking

1–2 years of hospitality or food‑service experience
-
Strong communicator with confident, steady decision‑making
-
Calm, organized, and reliable during busy periods
-
Proactive, solutions‑focused, and supportive of your team

Comfortable guiding FOH team members in service standards and workflow
-
Confident running the shop solo when needed
-
Coffee/espresso experience or excited to learn

Available April through fall, including evenings and weekends

Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs

Foodsafe Certified (or willing to obtain)
The role is Friday through Tuesday from 2:30pm to 9:30pm.
Vacation Blackout Dates
May to September is our busiest time of the year and you must be able to work:
~ Community Events - Peach City Beach Cruise, Elvis Festival, Peach Fest, Etc.
~ Canada Day
~ August Long Weekend (BC Day)
