Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our client's hospital collaborative, multidisciplinary healthcare team. The RPN will provide safe, ethical, and patient-centered nursing care in accordance with applicable legislation, professional standards, organizational policies, and the practice requirements established by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care within the RPN scope of practice.
- Apply the nursing process to support established patient goals and achieve positive health outcomes.
- Provide care to patients whose needs are less complex, outcomes are predictable, and risk of negative outcomes is low.
- Recognize abnormal or unusual patient responses and promptly consult with the Registered Nurse or other appropriate members of the healthcare team.
- Provide aspects of care to highly complex patients in close consultation with the Registered Nurse directing the patient’s care.
- Administer medications safely and in accordance with professional standards, organizational policies, and physician orders.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient documentation.
- Ensure nursing practice complies with the standards and ethical framework established by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Participate in continuing education and professional-development activities relevant to the patient population served.
- Use reflective practice to evaluate nursing knowledge, identify opportunities for improvement, and modify practice as appropriate.
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Perform additional nursing and cross-functional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Acute or post-acute adult patient population experience.
Pay: $49.13-$56.14 per hour
