Position Overview
This position is responsible for the administrative supervision and support of daily laboratory operations. The Charge Pathologists’ Assistant may also complete diagnostic laboratory testing and are expected to be able to fulfill the duties of a Senior Pathologists' Assistant as needed.
Basic Requirements
- Certified with The Canadian Certification Council of Pathologists’ Assistants (CCCPA);
- Minimum of six (6) years of combined experience as a Pathologists' Assistant and/or Senior Pathologists' Assistant, or five (5) years of experience with a Master's degree in Pathologists' Assistant studies (or equivalent accredited program).
- Specific coursework or experience in leadership, human resource management, financial management, time management, communication/interaction (including presentations), critical thinking, applied investigation, problem-solving, professionalism, facilitation and conflict resolution;
- Knowledge of relevant health care regulations;
- Advanced knowledge in medical laboratory theory, principles and practices;
- Knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation;
- Strong oral and writing communication skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Sound problem solving and conflict resolution skills;
- Detailed knowledge of laboratory testing procedures;
- Ability to supervise/lead/coach/mentor;
- Knowledge of computer/IT relevant to the laboratory;
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of laboratory operations.
As a pre-condition of employment, all new EORLA employees will be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check dated within six (6) months from the date of issue.

Rotation/Shifts
Days and evenings, including weekends, 8 hour shifts. Rotation to other TOH campuses may be required. Periodic travel to both the QCH and CHEO sites may be required to provide supervisory support to the Pathologists’ Assistants at these locations. Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingualism is considered an asset;
- Masters of Pathologists' Assistant preferred.
