Job Description
Full time, permanent position with a wholesale lumber yard located in Ajax. Staff are expected to understand and adhere to all Health and Safety guidelines to ensure the safety of themselves and all those involved. Primary duties are delivering lumber and building materials to customer job sites in a flatbed truck and working in the yard building loads. ALL deliveries are in the GTA/surrounding area. NO long haul deliveries. Majority of deliveries will be in a Ram 5500 flatbed. DZ/AZ license is beneficial for larger loads.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
· Assemble customers' loads in accordance with loading list for delivery to job site at the time and date required by the customer.
· Ensure truck is loaded properly and safely
· Ensure load is safely secured
· Deliver lumber and building materials to job sites.
· Assist in receiving and loading trucks.
· Operate forklifts and commercial delivery trucks
· Observe all safety rules and regulations, and take prompt corrective action concerning any potential safety hazard.
· Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
· Must have Forklift Operators license
· Must have valid Ontario Driver’s G license *** valid DZ license beneficial
* Must have minimum 3 years of commercial driving experience with employment history letter as proof
· Clean drivers abstract
· Must know GTA area
· Able to lift up to 50 lbs
· Must be able to speak, read, write in English
· Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
· Experience or knowledge with wood related products and services an asset
· General math skills
· Willing to work in a fast paced environment
· Work will be year round, in all weather conditions
· Must be a self-starter, and able to work independently as well as with a team
· Knowledge of daily truck inspection log books
Hours of Operation:
Monday - Friday 45hrs/week
