We invite applications for a Catholic Secondary School Principal position. Reporting to the Superintendent of Education, the successful applicant will provide leadership and expertise in educational administration and support the Catholic school community. This permanent, full-time position will commence on or about September 1, 2026.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee day-to-day school operations
- Manage school logistics and budgets
- Set learning goals for students and teachers and lead school improvement initiatives
- Monitor and report on school staff performance and student achievement
- Implement goals and lead in alignment with the Board's Strategic Priorities
- Interview and hire school staff
- Review, update and implement and ensure adherence to Board policies, administrative procedures and school policies
- Provide guidance and support to school staff
- Handle emergencies and school crises
- Organize school events, liturgies and assemblies
- Collaborate with community partners and Families of Parishes
- Model and lead faith formation and catechesis for staff
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for students and staff
- Engage in ongoing professional learning to gain knowledge on current educational trends and improve practices
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Achievement of Principal's Qualification Program, Parts 1 & 2
- Achievement of or progress toward a Master's Degree is an asset
- A minimum of five (5) years teaching experience with demonstrated leadership skills
- Religious Education qualifications required; Specialist preferred
- Demonstrated educational leadership capacity at a school and/or system level
- Demonstrated commitment to high quality Catholic education, and a philosophy toward staff, students and parents/caregivers that clearly reflects Catholic values
- Strong knowledge of Catholic curriculum, programming, and instructional leadership in a wide range of areas to reflect the complexity and diversity of a secondary school
- Knowledge and experience with Google Classroom, Brightspace (D2L) and Edsembli (or equivalents); demonstrated skill in the use of digital technology tools to support teaching and learning
- A proven record of being self-motivated and innovative, with demonstrated problem-solving and supervision skills
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills with adults as well as youth
- A valid class G (or higher) Ontario driver's licence and a reliable vehicle, this position requires use of own vehicle.
