Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and highly organized Operations Supervisor to oversee the operations of our waste services(waste and recycling drivers as well as landfill and tranfer stations) in the Williams Lake and 100 Mile House, BC locations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a variety of key functions, including accounts receivable, billing, office staff management, dispatch operations, and transfer station oversight. This individual will ensure efficient and effective operation across multiple areas, with a focus on customer satisfaction, safety, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. AR/Billing Management -Williams Lake
- Oversee accounts receivable and billing operations for Williams Lake and Gold Trail, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing and payment collection.
- Manage billing processes for the CRD (Capital Regional District) contracts, including generating invoices, tracking payments, and resolving any discrepancies.
2. Office Staff Management
- Supervise and support office staff, working closely with an existing team member to ensure efficient daily operation of the office.
- Cross-train the existing staff member in all office functions to provide support during vacations, sick time, and any other coverage needs.
- Act as a point of contact for any office-related concerns, ensuring smooth workflow and addressing issues as they arise.
3. Dispatch Operations
- Oversee the centralization of dispatch operations for both Williams Lake and Gold Trail.
- Ensure that waste collection schedules and routes are optimized and executed efficiently.
- Work closely with the drivers and fleet to address any operational challenges.

4. Williams Lake Transfer Station Management
- Oversee the daily management of the Williams Lake transfer station, including the creation of staff schedules, staffing requirements, and operational needs.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, including conducting regular site inspections and operator evaluations.
- Oversee the hiring and training of transfer station attendants, ensuring they are knowledgeable in site procedures and safety standards.
- Administer scale training to ensure operators are familiar with all necessary paperwork, cash handling, and ticketing procedures.
5. Safety & Compliance
- Conduct site inspections regularly to ensure safety compliance and operational standards are met.
- Monitor operator performance and conduct evaluations to ensure safety protocols and operational guidelines are being followed.
- Ensure all staff are trained and knowledgeable in the use of safety equipment and adherence to environmental regulations.
6. Schedule Creation & CRD Billing for Transfer Station
- Develop and manage employee schedules for the Williams Lake transfer station, ensuring adequate coverage for all operational hours.
- Oversee billing related to the CRD contracts, ensuring accuracy and timely invoicing for services provided.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in the waste or environmental industry.
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable, billing, and financial documentation.
- Experience in dispatch operations and scheduling.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations in the waste management industry.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with billing and scheduling software is a plus.
- Class 3 license would be consdered an asset.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform site inspections, which may involve walking or standing for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment or documents weighing up to 25 lbs.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require occasional weekend or evening work, particularly during times of staffing shortages or peak operational periods.
- Occasional travel between Williams Lake and Gold Trail may be required.
