Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator specializing in pipeline excavation and dozer operations to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating excavators and dozers to support pipeline construction, trench excavation, and site grading projects. This role requires a strong focus on safety, precision, and efficiency, ensuring all operations meet pipeline industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements. This is a paid position with opportunities for growth within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Operate excavators and dozers to perform trench excavation, backfilling, grading, and site preparation for pipeline installation
- Safely dig and maintain trench lines to specified depths and widths per pipeline engineering drawings and grade requirements
- Perform topsoil stripping, right-of-way clearing, and spoil management along pipeline corridors
- Conduct pre-shift and routine inspections of excavators and dozers to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance
- Work in coordination with pipeline crew members including laborers, welders, and grade checkers to keep the spread moving efficiently and on schedule
- Follow all pipeline safety protocols , trench safety standards, and confined space awareness
- Maintain accurate records of equipment hours, inspections, and maintenance activities
- Assist with minor mechanical troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime in the field
Experience
- Proven experience operating excavators and/or dozers on pipeline, utility, or heavy civil construction projects
- Familiarity with reading grade stakes and working to line and grade specifications
- Knowledge of trench safety regulations (OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart P) and spoil pile placement requirements
- Experience working on cross-country pipeline spreads or urban pipeline projects preferred
- Understanding of soil conditions and how they affect excavation, shoring, and backfill operations
- Ability to work in physically demanding outdoor environments, varying terrain, and adapt to changing project demands
- CDL and/or relevant equipment certifications are a plus
Pay: From $45.00 per hour
