Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Long Haul Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles over long distances, ensuring timely delivery of freight across various locations. Duties
- Safely operate large commercial trucks over long-distance routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment as needed, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and communicate effectively with dispatch and clients regarding delivery schedules.
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting when necessary to ensure vehicle reliability during trips.
- Assist with warehouse operations including freight handling, inventory management, and equipment operation.
- Follow all company policies related to safety, hours of service, and cargo securement procedures.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly long-haul routes.
- Proficiency in forklift operation and freight handling techniques.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and basic automotive repair skills.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards for transportation.
- Excellent navigation skills with the ability to read maps or use GPS systems effectively.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy loads, climbing in/out of trucks, and operating heavy machinery safely.
