Mainsteel Inc. is looking for a Tool Crib/ Fleet Manager to join the company. We are an Ontario-based industrial fabrication and manufacturing company specializing in structural steel fabrication, welding, millwrighting, industrial maintenance, custom metal fabrication, equipment installation, and industrial manufacturing support for commercial and industrial clients. This role is critical to maintaining operational efficiency, equipment readiness, inventory control, and fleet reliability throughout the organization.
Tool Crib Manager Responsibilities
o Tool Distribution & Tracking
o Issuing tools to employees and Tracking tool sign-outs
o Receiving returned tools and inspecting returned equipment
o Monitoring missing tools
o Updating inventory systems
o Consumable Inventory Control
o Monitor all shop-use supplies daily.
o Checking stock levels and Reordering supplies
o Preventing shortages
o Tracking usage trends
o Managing inventory costs
o Tool Maintenance & Repairs
o Purchasing & Supplier Coordination
o Ordering shop supplies
o Inventory Audits & Cost Control
o Maintain safe equipment
o Inspecting damaged cords and responsibility to remove defective tools
o Monitoring PPE availability
o Submitting SDS documentation to H&S
Fleet Manager Responsibilities
o Daily Equipment Inspections and Reviewing inspection logs
o Checking for reported issues
o Identifying equipment requiring repairs
o Confirming equipment availability for jobs
o Ensuring operators completed pre-use inspections
o Scheduling oil changes
o Arranging tire replacements
o Monitoring brake wear
o Tracking hydraulic maintenance
o Coordinating annual inspections
o Monitoring engine hours
o Tracking service intervals
o Coordinating Repairs/Completing Repairs
o Ordering replacement parts
o Coordinating warranty claims
o Tracking repair progress
o Prioritizing critical equipment repairs
o Monitor and complete Trailer lighting / Brakes / Tires / Lift systems
o Responsible for Fleet Compliance & Safety
o Monitoring inspection expiry dates
o Maintaining service documentation
o Ability to complete after-hour repairs
