Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Fabrication Shop Saw Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating saw equipment to cut and prepare steel and other materials for fabrication processes. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of fabrication techniques. The position offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills within a dynamic workshop environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate various types of saw machinery to accurately cut steel and other materials according to specifications
- Measure and mark materials using hand tools and basic maths to ensure precise cuts
- Ability to know lengths for no waste cuttings
- Set up and and use Drill Press & Rebar Bending Machine
- Assist with grinding, welding, and assembly tasks as required to support production workflows
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to safety standards at all times
- Perform routine inspections of tools and equipment, reporting any issues or malfunctions promptly
- Follow technical drawings and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication of components
Skills
- Proven experience in fabrication, with knowledge of steel handling and cutting techniques
- Proficiency in operating saws, grinding tools, and hand tools within a workshop setting
- Proficiency in operating Drill Press
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to tooling setup and maintenance
- Familiarity with welding processes is advantageous but not essential
- Strong understanding of basic maths for measurements and calculations
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and assembly instructions *MUST*
- Good organisational skills with an eye for detail to ensure quality standards are met
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
