COMMUNITY AND CORPORATE RELATIONS (CCR) MANAGER
(PERMANENT FULL-TIME)
Waypoints is a registered, non-profit charity that has been operating in Fort McMurray since 1982. Waypoints offers facilities, programs and services for people that have experienced, or are experiencing domestic violence and/or abuse, or sexual assault and/or abuse. Waypoints also provides the community with public awareness events, initiatives, and educational programs to increase the prevention of violence and abuse in the Wood Buffalo Region. Waypoints operates Unity House (an Emergency Women and Children's Shelter), the Opportunities for Change Centre, the Sexual Assault and Abuse Healing Centre, the CARE Centre (a Child and Youth Advocacy Centre) and The Compass, home of our Second Stage Shelter for women and children in need of transitional housing, as well as affordable housing.
POSTION SUMMARY:
The Community and Corporate Relations (CCR) Manager reports to the Executive Director. In this role, the Community and Corporate Relations (CCR) Manager leads the community awareness, special events and fundraising team and creates, supports, and maintains a portfolio of online and offline marketing and communications activities, promoting access to and understanding of Waypoints’ purpose, programs and services among key stakeholders, including community members, clients, donors/funders/sponsors, board members, and staff. This position includes creating and managing fundraising opportunities and campaigns and recruiting and coordinating project volunteers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communications Management:
- Works with the Executive Director to plan, launch, maintain and evaluate an annual communications strategy for Waypoints.
- Works collaboratively with leadership team to develop content strategy for online and offline communications.
- Works collaboratively with leadership team to align key messages and ensure the consistency of external communications.
- Plan and execute all web, email, social media, and display advertising campaigns.
- Collaborate with leadership team to optimize user experience.
- Plan and execute a quarterly newsletter for Waypoints.
- Measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs).
- Writes and/or manages the creation of compelling promotional copy and informational content for marketing publications, collateral, website and blog, and social media.
- Design, build and maintain a consistent social media presence on appropriate platforms as deemed by the Executive Director.
- Identify trends and insights and optimize spend for best performance based on the insights.
- Supports media relations activities and campaigns, developing strategies for increasing Waypoints' visibility in the region.
- Maintains a database of public relations and media contacts, including journalists, educational leadership, government officials, etc.
- Facilitates internal and external Waypoints’ Meetings.
- Develops and maintains effective and collaborative internal and external work relationships.
- Manages internal brand standards.
- Manages staff cell phone purchases and updates for Waypoints’ staff.
- Member of internal IT Committee
- Performs other tasks as requested by the Executive Director.
Community Awareness and Special Event Management:
- Manages all Waypoints’ Community Awareness and Special Event department’s activities.
- Hires, manages, supervises, and evaluates community awareness and special events staff.
- Provides oversight and/or support for other Waypoints’ departments’ events to provide consistency and ensure Waypoints’ objectives are met.
- Manages Waypoints’ Volunteer Program, including recruitment, screening, hiring, supervision of volunteer coordination, tracking of hours, activities, and recognition.
- Assist ED with annual department budgeting, create project, event budgets, and provide ED with financial reporting in cooperation with the finance department.
- Utilize strong analytical ability to evaluate awareness and event experiences across multiple channels and touch points.
- Performs other tasks as requested by the Executive Director.
Community and Corporate Stakeholder Relations:
- Informs, connects, and engages Waypoints’ staff and community stakeholders in transformation initiatives across the Wood Buffalo Region.
- Represents Waypoints at community events and networks with community leaders and stakeholders.
- Meets with community leaders and stakeholders to inform, connect, engage, and explore partnership, sponsor, and donor opportunities.
- Performs other tasks as requested by the Executive Director.
Fund Development:
- Research appropriate grants for Waypoints.
- Prepares and submits grants as directed by the ED.
- Creates and manages fundraising campaigns and invites donations and sponsorships.
- Manages donation tracking software.
- Completes monthly fundraising reports for community and corporate grants, donations, gifts-in-kind, AGLC funding and other required paperwork.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business/Marketing, or related field or a combination of education and experience.
- Experience in the non-profit/social profit sector.
- Experience with Project management and Event management.
- Experience with fund development.
- Experience writing a broad range of print, web, and social media communications.
- Proven working experience in digital marketing.
- Demonstrable experience leading and managing a marketing database, email, social media and/or display advertising campaigns.
- Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform, and motivate.
- Knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics)
- Experience in setting up and optimizing Google AdWords campaigns.
- Experience building content in Squarespace (or similar website builder and blogging platform)
- Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement
- Understanding of writing style guides
- Budgeting and financial reporting for department, project, and events in coordination with the finance department
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Ability to listen and speak clearly.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work well independently and collaborate effectively within a creative team
- Proficient in MS Office
- Experience working with AGLC re. events and allowable use of proceeds
- Experience with CRA requirements re. non-profits, (e.g., fundraising)
- Minimum of two years of marketing experience which includes social media management.
- Knowledge Adobe Creative Suite
WORK CONDITIONS:
- 37.5-hour work week. Office hours will be agreed on with the Executive Director. Work will include evenings and weekends as required.
- Requires use of a personal vehicle for work purposes.
- Travel will be required.
- Physical ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations and facilitate meetings.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Interacts with management, colleagues, visitors, government agencies/personnel, community members, community, and business leaders.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers license and a clean Drivers abstract.
- Criminal Record Check and Intervention Record Check.
- Current Emergency First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Mandatory full COVID19 vaccination required.
COMPENSATION:
- $72,520 annual salary plus $12,480 annual cost of living allowance for a total of $85,000 per annum.
