Responsibilities
Assist licensed electricians with installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems on construction sites and industrial facilities. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to understand project requirements. Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to perform wiring, conduit installation, and equipment setup. Work with low voltage and high voltage systems, ensuring compliance with CEC (Canadian Electrical Code) standards. Operate testing equipment such as ohmmeters to troubleshoot electrical circuits and identify issues. Support the installation of low voltage systems including alarms, data cabling, and communication networks. Participate in construction activities such as framing carpentry when needed to support electrical infrastructure. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols and using personal protective equipment at all times.
Skills
Strong interest in electrical work with a willingness to learn and develop new skills. Previous experience or familiarity with residential, industrial or commercial electrician tasks is a plus. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and testing devices like ohmmeters. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams accurately. Understanding of CEC standards for electrical installations and safety procedures. Experience working on construction sites or in construction environments is highly desirable. Basic knowledge of low voltage and high voltage systems; familiarity with low voltage wiring is a plus. Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail when troubleshooting electrical issues. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.
