Avion Technologies Inc. is a Canadian precision manufacturing company serving the aerospace, defence, and nuclear industries. We manufacture high-precision machined components and assemblies for some of the world's leading OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
We are currently seeking an experienced CNC Milling Machine Operator to join our growing production team. If you have experience operating CNC milling machines in a precision manufacturing environment and take pride in producing high-quality work, we'd like to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate 3-axis, 4-axis, and/or 5-axis CNC milling machines.
- Load CNC programs and verify machine setup prior to production.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
- Select and install appropriate workholding and fixtures, including vises, custom fixtures, and pallet systems.
- Verify first-off parts and perform in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment.
- Monitor machine performance and perform approved tool offset adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy.
- Ensure machined parts meet customer specifications, tolerances, and quality standards.
- Perform routine tool changes and monitor tool life.
- Maintain accurate production records and complete required documentation.
- Identify machining or quality concerns and communicate them to Team Leaders or Programmers.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures, quality requirements, and AS9100 standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain efficient production flow.
- Assist in training new operators when required.
Preferred Experience
Experience with the following will be considered strong assets:
- Vertical Machining Centres (VMCs)
- Horizontal Machining Centres (HMCs)
- Fanuc or similar CNC controls
- CAM-generated programs (Mastercam or similar) and basic program editing
- Tool offset management, tool life monitoring, and work offset (program zero) establishment
- Multi-machine operation
- Aerospace machining of aluminum, stainless steel, alloy steels, and titanium
- Participation in root cause investigations for machining or setup-related nonconformances
- AS9100 manufacturing documentation, including first-piece inspections and in-process inspection records
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 3–5 years of CNC milling experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Experience maintaining tight machining tolerances and surface finish requirements.
- Proficiency using precision measuring equipment, including:
- Micrometers
- Bore gauges
- Height gauges
- Dial indicators
- Basic computer skills for production documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
Security Requirement
Avion Technologies Inc. is a Controlled Goods Registered facility. Successful candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and successfully complete security screening, including a police records check, as required under the Controlled Goods Program.
