About the Client:
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for an 80-year-old woman living independently in northwest Mississauga (near Mavis Parkway and Derry Road) who is experiencing early onset dementia. She has been in Canada for over 40 years and is fluent in English. She lives on her own and receives meal deliveries, but needs daily support to maintain her independence and safety at home.
Responsibilities:
The caregiver will provide one hour of daily companion care focused on medication management and meal support. Primary duties include warming up pre-delivered meals, sitting with the client during mealtime, and ensuring she takes her daily medications with food as required. The role involves providing memory prompts and gentle redirection as needed due to her dementia. Light tidying and maintaining a safe, comfortable environment are also expected. The client is fully mobile and handles all personal care independently, so no physical assistance with bathing, dressing, or toileting is required.
What We're Looking For:
We need someone who is calm, patient, and brings positive energy to each visit. The ideal caregiver is reliable, consistent, and takes initiative when needed. Strong communication skills with both the client and family are essential. Experience with dementia care and medication management is required. The family has worked with caregivers before and is specifically seeking more consistent care with the same familiar face each day, as this is crucial for the client's comfort and routine. The caregiver should be fluent in English and comfortable working independently while maintaining clear communication with the family.
Schedule:
This is a long-term position requiring one hour daily, seven days per week, including weekends. Visits should occur at the same time each day to maintain routine and consistency. The family is committed to a quarterly arrangement and values reliability above all else.
