Job Description
Lheidli T’enneh First Nation is deeply committed to the stewardship of our lands, waters, and wildlife. We are seeking two dedicated Land Guardians to help uphold this responsibility. As a Land Guardian, you will work alongside government agencies, conservation officers, and industry partners to ensure the protection and monitoring of Lheidli T’enneh territory.
Key Responsibilities:
· Focus on Caribou Recovery
· Willingness to build field mapping and mobile GIS skills.
· Participate in all land stewardship initiatives.
· Gather and collect data on land, water, and wildlife stewardship following Lheidli-developed systems.
· Support the collection and transfer of knowledge, both internally and with external partners.
· Engage in joint patrols and field visits with Conservation Officers, Mines Inspectors, and other relevant government agencies.
· Inspect, verify, and monitor cultural sites, Lheidli significant places, and projects of concern.
· Build relationships with the Lheidli community, industry, and government agencies.
· Provide referral support to the Natural Resources department.
· Participate in professional development and necessary certifications.
· Contribute to wildlife research initiatives.
· Assist in coordinating Traditional Land Use and Ethnography Studies.
· Work closely with the Manager to review and update the work plan as needed.
· Participate in tourism initiatives and collaborate with various partners.
· Submit written reports and updates to the manager/coordinator as required.
· Frequent long-distance travel within Lheidli T’enneh Territory.
· Perform other related duties as directed/assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Familiarity with Lheidli T’enneh territory, culture, and traditional knowledge.
· Ability to fly in a helicopter and use personal protective equipment (PPE) during fieldwork.
· Experience working with drones and radios.
· Comfortable driving on Forest Service Roads and working in forest environments.
· Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Requirements:
· A valid BC Driver’s License and Driver’s Abstract.
· Must complete a minimum 12 panel drug and alcohol test and remain compliant throughout term of employment for work on pipelines and other major project sites that have these strict requirements.
· Ability to successfully undergo and maintain a Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.

Lheidli T’enneh offers full benefit package after three (03) months which includes extended health, dental insurance, disability, life insurance. On top of salary and vacation pay, we also provide 18 days of paid elective days in a calendar year, two (02) weeks of paid additional vacation during Christmas, % matching pension plan, mileage allowance/use of company vehicle for work purposes etc.
