Our client is seeking a Manager, Tax to join their team. In this role, the successful candidate will review tax filings, processes, and controls to ensure compliance with Canadian tax regulations and provide strategic tax planning advice to clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Review corporate, trust, partnership, and personal tax returns, as well as various tax elections.
- Oversee the preparation of voluntary disclosures for corporate tax-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian tax regulations.
- Tax Advisory & Technical Research
- Participate in income tax planning and consulting.
- Conduct tax research and advise clients and staff on technical matters.
- Anticipate technical issues and develop sound solutions.
- Think strategically about client needs by understanding their business to serve as a trusted business advisor.
- Team Mentorship & Internal Development
- Supervise and mentor junior staff.
- Establish and maintain effective internal relationships.
- Involve appropriate firm personnel to ensure all aspects of the work are properly addressed.
- Serve as a technical resource for staff and provide suggestions for resolving technical issues.
- Develop and teach internal courses on technical matters and attend relevant workshops/conferences to remain up to date on tax issues.
The ideal candidate is a client-focused, respectful, and communicative professional with strong problem-solving skills, good judgment, and common sense. You have the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and possess strong planning, organization, and engagement control skills.
Qualifications:
- University degree specializing in accounting.
- Minimum of 4 years of public accounting experience, with a focus in Canadian Tax.
- Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory/management role.
- CPA designation obtained or nearing completion.
- Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong communication skills in English.
