About the Role
The Momentum Centre is looking for a compassionate, community-minded individual to join our team as an Accounting Specialist.
The Accounting Specialist is a critical member of our team, responsible for maintaining the financial integrity and compliance of the organization. This role manages full-cycle bookkeeping and payroll while ensuring that fund-specific reporting and charitable status requirements are met. A key component of the role involves navigating the complexities of non-profit finance, including the administration of Cooperating Workplace (CWP) claims, donor receipting, and external funder reporting.

The starting pay rate for this role is $27.10/hour. However, we are open to negotiating a higher rate for candidates who bring additional relevant experience or advanced education. Please let us know your salary expectations in your cover letter.

Interested? Tell us you can:
- Manage all daily accounting activities within QuickBooks Online, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and routine bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Administer the processing of employee payroll and related payroll administration (ie. onboarding, ROEs, etc).
- Process Cooperating Workplace (CWP) claims to initiate approval and reimbursement.
- Serve as a point of contact for vendor and CWP inquiries, managing payments and account resolutions.
- Assist management in developing the annual budget. Track and monitor transactions by class to ensure adherence to internal budgets and specific funder requirements.
- Support the development and release of accurate financial reports to meet organizational needs as well as external funder requirements.
- Facilitate the annual audit process by preparing necessary schedules, performing year-end adjustments, and liaising with external auditors.
- Issue official charitable donation receipts and ensure all donor financial records are accurately maintained.
- Support the administrative tasks required to maintain the organization’s status in good standing.
- Assist with special projects, events and program support.
- Demonstrate integrity, credibility, and a strong commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, focusing on consultation and collaboration.
- Exercise confidentiality, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and the safety of stakeholder data.
Technical Skills & Experience
Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance, combined with 3+ years of experience managing full-cycle bookkeeping.- Experience in non-profit accounting, specifically with fund accounting and class tracking.
- Experience working in QuickBooks Online, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience supporting payroll processing.
- Knowledge of charitable financial compliance, including donor receipting regulations, maintaining charitable status, and supporting external audits.
