Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Health Care Aide to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care, support nursing staff, and assist patients with daily activities in a clinical or residential setting. Proficiency in English is preferred to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations. This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency with computer operation and medical terminology. The Certified Health Care Aide will play a vital role in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and well-being while adhering to healthcare standards and protocols.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Administer medications as prescribed under the supervision of nursing staff
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately using medical terminology and documentation standards
- Support nursing staff in patient assessments and care planning
- Maintain detailed records using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook for documentation and communication purposes
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive care
- Operate medical equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to infection control protocols
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient needs promptly and professionally
- Manage time effectively to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Uphold confidentiality and privacy standards in accordance with healthcare regulations
Experience
- Previous experience in acute care or similar healthcare settings is highly desirable
- Bilingual skills in English and French are preferred to enhance communication with diverse patient populations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) and general computer operation is required
- Knowledge of nursing procedures, medical terminology, medication administration, and patient care practices is essential
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective time management are necessary for success in this role
- Prior experience working as a Certified Health Care Aide or similar position will be considered an asset
