Role Overview
We are seeking a sharp, academically driven University Admissions & English Instructor to work with our Grade 9–12 students. This is a multifaceted role designed for a candidate who excels in English literature and understands the strategic nuances of the university application process. You will work closely with the Principal to help students achieve top-tier academic results and secure admissions to their dream programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Senior English Instruction: Deliver high-level English and Humanities lessons to secondary students (Grades 9–12).
- AP English Mastery: Quickly adapt to and deliver AP English Language and Literature curriculum (onboarding and resources provided).
- University Admissions Support: Actively support students during the application "kick-in" phase, providing critical feedback on admissions essays and personal statements for top global universities.
- Interview Coaching: Prepare students for private school and university entrance interviews through mock sessions and communication training.
- Curriculum Collaboration: Assist the Principal in refining course materials and humanities programming.
What We’re Looking For
- Superior Writing Ability: You have the ability to help students "find their voice" in persuasive and narrative writing for competitive applications.
- Secondary Teaching Experience: Proven experience teaching or tutoring senior high school students.
- Academic Agility: A fast learner capable of catching up on AP-specific standards and admissions trends within a short timeframe.
- Education: Current UBC student (upper years) or Graduate in English, Philosophy, Education, or a related Humanities field. High academic standing is a must.
