Job Title: Residential Fibre Installer
Department: Field Operations / Network Services
Reports To: Installation Supervisor or Field Operations Manager

Position Summary
The Residential Fibre Installer is responsible for installing, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fibre-optic internet, television, and telephone services in residential customer locations. This role requires strong technical skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently in various indoor and outdoor environments while ensuring installations meet company quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install fibre-optic cable and related equipment at residential properties.
- Connect and activate internet, television, and voice services for customers.
- Perform fibre splicing, termination, and testing as required.
- Troubleshoot service issues, signal loss, and equipment malfunctions.
- Configure customer-premises equipment, including routers, modems, and Wi-Fi devices.
- Educate customers on service features, equipment operation, and basic troubleshooting.
- Conduct site assessments to determine installation requirements and routing paths.
- Maintain accurate installation records, service reports, and inventory documentation.
- Ensure all work complies with company policies, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with dispatch, technical support, and network operations teams as needed.
- Respond to service calls, repairs, and maintenance requests within assigned territories.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working order.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience in telecommunications, cable, fibre-optic installation, or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of fibre-optic installation methods, testing procedures, and network fundamentals.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, work orders, and service documentation.
- Basic computer and mobile device proficiency.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage daily schedules effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fibre-optic certification or telecommunications training.
- Experience with FTTH (Fibre to the Home) networks.
- Experience using OTDRs, optical power meters, and fibre testing equipment.
- Knowledge of structured cabling and home networking systems.
- Working at heights, ladder safety, or fall-protection certifications.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, crawl spaces, and outdoor environments.
- Ability to perform repetitive bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
